3D printed nature inspired table legs

The concept, orchestrated by Silversquare architects Dimitri Goloubev and Julie Van Huynegem in collaboration with Lilian and Théo, draws inspiration from current climate issues and how humanity will adapt in the future. They explore two contrasting yet positively presented answers to this question: utopia and dystopia.

UTOPIA, BY LILIAN VAN DAAL

Lilian van Daal is a Dutch designer renowned for her work in biomimicry, the art and science of imitating nature's best biological ideas through technology. She believes that "biomimicry is the art (and science) of imitating nature's best ideas with technology to make human applications more sustainable."

Lilian's work revolves around mimicking nature's intricate designs and incorporating sustainable, bio-sourced materials, such as those derived from agricultural waste. Her creations aim to be resilient, durable, and low-maintenance. In this project, her designs will embrace natural forms to create a sense of connection with the environment, promoting well-being and reducing stress.

In this project all designs for UTOPIA are designed by Lilian van Daal, supported by Silversquare's architects.

DYSTOPIA, BY THÉO DEMANS
Théo Demans, a sculptor and scenographer based in Brussels, is responsible for the dystopian aspect of the project. With a background in theater and cinema set design, he is passionate about creating eco-friendly and circular elements. Théo seeks to reflect the positive aspects of dystopia rather than focusing on resource scarcity and negativity. He draws inspiration from unconventional designs, such as spaceships, using recycled materials to bring his vision to life.

In this project all designs for DYSTOPIA are designed by Théo Demans, supported by Silversquare's architects.
